Kentucky Engineering Group has worked for the Garrard County Water Association for the past few years to make the water system improvement project a reality. The project will upgrade major sections of the distribution system for improved system pressure and flow to the northern and southeastern sections of Garrard County. Also included in the project will be pumping station and water storage tank improvements.
The current leadership of the Garrard County Water Association has been proactive in implementing infrastructure improvements throughout the system. This project includes upgrades, improvements and water main extensions. Included is approximately 50,000 LF of various size water main extensions and replacements, booster pump station replacements and a new 250,000 gallon elevated water storage tank.
The project is being funded by a grant and loan from USDA Rural Development with a total estimated project cost of $3,887,000.00. The project was divided into two construction contracts, Contract No. 1 – Water Main Improvements and is being constructed by G & W Construction Company, Inc. of Morehead, Kentucky and Contract No. 2 – 250,000 Gallon Water Storage Tank and is being constructed by Phoenix Fabricators & Erectors, Inc. of Avon, Indiana. The project should be complete and in operation by the summer of 2018.
